Bridgewater Community Atlas

(Courtesy of Bridgewater Tourism)

Scenic Bridgewater, Nova Scotia is located along the banks of the LaHave River and has a long history dating back to 1604 when Sieur de Monts and Champlain while trying to establish colonies for France in the New World called the first land they reached "Cape de la Heve."  The river which runs through the Town of Bridgewater still bears the name LaHave.

What is the Bridgewater Community Atlas?

The Bridgewater Community Atlas is an Internet based production that students, teachers and anyone interested in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia can access and research information from.

GeoAccess, formerly the National Atlas Information Service of Geomatics Canada, in partnership with a Teacher's Advisory Group from the Canadian Council for Geographic Education, is offering this Internet based project to schools across Canada. By participating and creating a Community Atlas web site, schools will be able to be part of the National Atlas of Canada. The sixth edition, an Internet based version, is currently underway and will provide the very best geographical and geospatial information and data to Canadians.

This site was created and is maintained by Grade five and six students from Bridgewater Elementary School.
